Dear Walter Fraiser

Thank you! Thank you! We had a wonderful time at your show on October 10th.It was very appropriate for the Girl Scouts. And I thank you for that. The evening topped off our weekend in NYC. And most importantly, it helped bring my niece out of her shell enough to give it a try and come up on stage. Bravo.!

SUMMERTIME - 5 Reasons to come check out the show!

# 1 - Universal Humor
This is a comedy show that you can bring the kids to. This is a comedy show that you can bring grandma to.. You can even bring French Canadians... and they will ALL have a good time. This is a comedy show for everyone....and it's funny!

# 2 - When times are tough….Eight Is NEVER Enough!
Broadway shows can run up to $50- $120/SEAT. Movies in Manhattan are $12.50/Ticket. Popcorn...Almost THE SAME price! We are offering a great professional show for an affordable price. With the current state of the economy we realize that not everyone is able to afford such luxuries. We have taken this into consideration. If you are unable to pay the full price of admission, then give us a call and we will work out a special deal on the admission price for you. Unfortunately we are unable to change the required 2 drink minimum, but we can promise that the show will cost reasonable less than the above activities.

# 3 - Times Square Comedy Club
This club is one of the nicest, cleanest and upscale yet casual comedy clubs in Manhattan. Our resident theatre (Theatre 4) has a posh and cozy feel to it. The current staff is very friendly, the drink pours are heavy and the food is yummy. The club is also conveniently located right across the street from Port Authority and directly above 42nd St Subway A,E,C,1,9,N,R,W,7 Trains. We are 8th Ave so you can get to the show without dealing with too much of the congestion and slow walkers on Broadway!

# 4 - KILLER cast!
No don't worry - the comedians are NOT killers but they ARE all amazingly talented actors with years of training and experience in improv, comedy and theatre. Plus funnyman HOST Walt Frasier 's jolly humor and larger than life personality is a nice contrast to the dry witted deadpan of sidekick Spero Chumas. Click HERE to read about our Cast.

#5 - 100% Audience Participation!
Sometimes during live shows and even during movies the audience members can start to squirm in their seats! Sitting down and being quiet for 2-3 hours can cause your mind to drift, your legs to fall asleep and your butt to hurt. With EIGHT is NEVER Enough the audience is being called upon to either yell out ideas or come up on stage every 3-5 minutes. We make the show about what YOU want it to be. We are also now webcasting all of our shows LIVE on ustream.tv!

Webcast Time

Sorry - just wanted to add that the webcast will be taking place at 8:30 during Eastern Standard Time.http://www.ustream.tv/channel/eight-is-never-enough-improv-comedy-show

Live Webcast on Ustream TONIGHT Mon 7/13

We are going to attempt something tonight that we've never done before. We are going to be doing a webcast the show LIVE. This will kind of be a trial run to see how it goes. There may be some technical difficulties as we are still getting used to streaming with our software, connection, dv camera and computer. The cool thing about it is that it is LIVE IMPROV soo..what you see is what you get. NO cuts. No edits. We usually post clips and highlights from our live shows through our youtube account. This will be the entire show as it happens. So join us tonight on USTREAM at 8:30 .. the actual improv show doesn't usually get going until 8:45 but I will turn on the webcast backstage until it's time to get started...and see what happens. http://www.ustream.tv/channel/eight-is-never-enough-improv-comedy-show.

Day in the Life Improv

It's been a while since we've done this scene in the show but this is one of the best "Day in the Life" skits I've seen in a while.

What is "Short Form" Improv?

What's the difference? I've recently discovered that the general public doesn't really know the difference between short form and long form. I just want to say that it's almost like comparing apples and oranges. There has also been some confusion between "improv comedy" and "stand up" comedy. I've noticed while promoting our shows that sometimes people are thinking of stand up when we mention the word "improv".

The word "improv" can already be confusing enough. Some people think of the chain of the IMPROV comedy clubs which have locations at major cities all over the US. These clubs usually do not feature "improv comedy". They usually have headliners that perform "Stand Up"Comedy. Of course occasionally they will bring in other famous acts too but mainly they are a stand up club. Again apples and oranges.

I will talk more about WHAT WE DO...What is "SHORT FORM" IMPROV? Short FORM Improv is what people are familiar with if they have seen "Whose Line is it Anyway" on ABC. Eight is NEVER Enough is one of the few "short form" troupes still performing regularly on the current the New York Scene. The majority of troupes in the city are based in long form improvisation. Short Form IMPROV is a series of different scenes, skits, songs, dances, jokes that each have some type of unique"game" or "gimmick". Just about every 2-5 minutes the audience members are prompted by the MC to either give a suggestion or come on stage for the game. Then the players take that suggestion to establish the characters, situations, activity, conflict and locations within the first 60 seconds and hopefully from there the hilarity will ensue.. once it is time for the skit to end, someone in the cast yells the word "TAXI" and the audience yells "YO" ...and then it's time for something NEW. Then at that point the audience is prompted again for another skit or song.. I personally like this art form because it is short, sweet, funny and to the point. The advantage to this is great because if something isn't working on stage for one reason or the other then it is OVER and off to something brand NEW and completely different.. Timing and pacing are very important and in our shows we often alternate different players each time and mix it up between either songs or skits. ...

More examples of some of our favorite "short form IMPROV" games can be found on our YOUTUBE: http://www.youtube.com/eightimprov

PS - When is SPELL CHECK going to realize that IMPROV is a real word? It's not IMPROVE!
